Make Your Own Fireworks!

The Fourth of July is set aside to celebrate our nation's independence. It's also a great time to enjoy the company of your significant other and really make your summer sizzle. This year the holiday may also be the start of a long weekend for many people. You may be able to find a way to celebrate the holiday with your family and then get away alone together to celebrate your love. We've got some great ideas about fun ways to ignite some sparks of your own.

From pancake breakfasts to pie-eating contests, every small town in America has some kind of free activities -- and fun -- for you and your date to enjoy. Look at your local Chamber of Commerce website. Or check out Festivals.com to find out what sort of local activities are planned near you. Then get out and get going. All that activity will boost your libido and make your nighttime celebrations more fun.

Who doesn't love a parade? There's nothing as much fun as watching a marching band and baton twirlers coming down Main Street in a synchronized pattern. It is always thrilling to be with a large group celebrating our nation's independence. Grab an ice cream or snow cone and walk hand-in-hand through the crowd. A parade is the perfect time to enjoy a little PDA.

There are always free concerts on the Fourth of July. Enjoy a band you’ve never heard before together. Outdoor concerts are very romantic. You just might hear the song you'll both call "your song" for many years to come. Not into music? You can also find food festivals and BBQs on the Fourth of July. Near the beach? Stake out a spot on the beach with a fire pit and enjoy fireside romance.

Slip away for a sexy picnic just for two. While everyone else is taking in all the festivities, why not enjoy some time alone together. Grab a blanket, fill your picnic basket with your favorite foods (strawberries are thought to be a symbol of fertility and an aphrodisiac) and wine or champagne. You can camp out in your own backyard, or find another romantic and secluded location. Later, you can join the crowd for the celebration.

End the night with a bang! No Independence Day celebration would be complete without a fireworks display. This year, try something different. Find a rooftop or a mountain view overlooking the city, and snuggle under the stars as you wait for the big show. If the fireworks are over or near a lake, you could opt to float on a boat underneath the falling sparks. When you're alone on the waves, you can have your own big finale.
